Rain was running straight down the middle of a private drive in Athens, NY. Jon Tarbox cut in a new drainage ditch along one side and crowned the driveway, so the water now runs off to either side instead of down the center.
Why crown a gravel drive?
A crowned drive is slightly higher in the middle than at the edges, so rain sheds off to the sides. With a ditch to carry that water away, the middle of the drive stops washing out.

“This private drive in Athens needed some serious attention!! I cut in a new drainage ditch off to one side and crowned the driveway so the water can now run off in either direction rather than straight down the middle of the driveway.”
